New Interviews About Faulkner Book

For those of you who missed out on the series of interviews about Maureen Faulkner's new book, "Murdered By Mumia" which has recieved rave reviews and from what I understand selling very well, are all now available online courtesy of WPHT 1210 AM.

The interviews, include Maureen Faulkner, Jamal's 1982 prosecutor, Joe McGill, one of Faulkner's brothers, current Governor of Pennsylvania Ed Rendell, who was the District Attorney at the time of the shooting, Paul Palkovic, who is Maureen's current partner, as well as Hugh Burns, who is currently handling the Jamal case for the District Attorney's Office.

Also, to add another interesting perspective is Kevin Franck, who was a senior at Antioch College when Jamal gave the commencement speech to the graduating class via audio-recording. I was also interviewed and you will hear the reason why I ought to stick to the written word and leave the speaking to the professionals.

These interviews help to paint the true picture of the effect of an injustice that for over a quarter of a century has dragged on. I think I can speak for many people when I thank Micheal Smerconish for bringing us all together and allowing us the time to share our story.

For me, it was a true honor to be sitting across the table from Maureen Faulkner and I encourage everyone to listen to these interviews and than go out and grab a copy of "Murdered By Mumia", the proceeds of which go to the children of murder victims in Philadelphia.

I had the pleasure of meeting Maureen, albeit briefly, at a book signing at Barnes and Noble the other night. What a lovely woman. And how courageous. I finished the book already, as I could not put it down. She has a way with words. And while most of the trial facts appearing in the book were not news to me (I have studied the case at legnth) there were many things I did not know. It does not change my opinion on the case, it simply makes me MORE and more appalled at the disgusting tactics of Jamal, his so called legal team, and all of his supporters. I recently stumbled across the petition there is online to give him a new trial and it is so clear in the comments that these people are ignorant (and EXTREMELY so) to the facts. I, the daughter niece and sister of Philadelphia police officers, am a law student and this case fires my drive to eventually work in the DA's office. I know our system is flawed, but so help me God, I want a part in making sure cold blooded animals such as Mumia go where they belong. (And that's not prison!) The way Mrs Faulkner has been treated is dispicable. She deserves our utmost respect, and sympathy, and in the least she and Danny deserve JUSTICE.

Tony I am an avid reader of your blog ever since I found it sometime last year, and we have communicated through email from time to time. My father was an officer in a neighboring district of Daniel Faulkner at the time of the murder, and I believe they were in the academy at the same time. They grew up in the same neighborhood, and if I am not mistaken.. Danny was my father's paper boy. I have always felt so close to this case because my dad told us Danny's story from the time we could talk. And now, my older sister also walks these streets wearing blue and sporting her badge proudly.

I have been labeled a racist for my beliefs. I am currently dating the most amazing man whom I hope to one day marry, and he is african american. Race means nothing to me. In college I did an extensive research project surrounding MOVE, and my father was present at many MOVE altercations including the fiasco on Osage Avenue. I have done the research and know the facts, and made an educated opinion.

I wish there was someway to strongly encourage the Mumia supporters (those that are not too far gone... so clearly I am not talking about MOVE or the like, but the celebrities, the young people!) to do the same.

Most people I know who want to see Mumia's death sentence carried outHAVE looked at Mumia's camp's literature. I'm willing to bet Mumia supporters don't read the facts of the case, and will never lay a finger on Maureen's well written book. Ignorance is bliss.

I am sorry to take up so much of your comment space, but I wanted to voice my opinion and continue to give you kudos for a job well done on this blog. In addition, if anyone knows how to contact Maureen directly (a letter, in response to her book) please let me know. Obviously her home address will not be readily available, but maybe a mailing address for Smerconish or the publisher who could forward it to her?

Indeed, the book does flow. Most of the people I know who have it cannot put it down. Me, because of the personal nature of my involvement find it emotionally difficult. It chronicles in part, Maureen's pain, and also my complicity in helping to exacerbate taht pain.

I think the encouragement you feel from reading Maureen's book is shared by many people. One cannot read it without being angered by her treatment, from wherever you stand on the death penalty or political proclivities.

You read this blog, so you know the whole "racist" slur hurled at me as well.

It is in the absence of any real arguement that they so quickly resort to personal attacks. This while they embrace trully racist groups like the Nation of Islam and The New Black Panther Party.

But let me go out on a limb here.

I think that Jamal would have shot Faulkner regardless of his race.

Like MOVE, Jamal no doubt hated cops. Like MOVE, he hated African-Americans who embraced the system all that much more.

It is no surprise that one of Jamal's heroes, H. Rap Brown shot down a black sheriff and is currently in jail for that killing.

I thank you for taking the time to read my work and offer such a fine comment.

As far as reaching Maureen Faulkner, I am thinking the best way to reach her would be thru the Faulkner website at support@danielfaulkner.com

Thanks again.

Thank you for your response, Tony. I did realize that the book may be difficult for you with the circumstances, I only wish all MOVE members and Mumia supporters felt that way.

Thanks for the tip on contacting Maureen, I will try that.

In the meantime, I'll continue reading as always. Take Care & God Bless.

You should feel proud by all the positive responses over the years to your blog. Your realism and truth about Mumia and The MOVE Organization has had to have had an effect on both Mumia/MOVE movements. One can guess not in a positive way, by reading your latest blog entries. Kudos to you.....
